Non Common Core Essay prompt:
Odysseus from the epic poem The Odyssey is considered to be a classic epic hero.
In a 5-paragraph essay, analyze his character, describing both his heroic attributes and his flaws. Choose 3 of his distinct character traits and include examples and evidence from the story that demonstrate each trait.

Common core essay prompt for The Odyssey:
In this unit, you have done a critical reading of the five sources about heroism that we covered in class and an in depth reading and analysis of The Odyssey.
Prove that Odysseus displays the qualities of a true epic hero in Homer’s The Odyssey.  Use at least three sources from the five that have been provided for you to prove your thesis.  It will be through your examination and evaluation of the documents that you will assert a developed interpretation of the qualities of a true epic hero.
